HISTORY
The Kenmore Public Boathouse is the culmination of a unique partnership begun in 2017.
The City of Kenmore and Northshore School District sought to offer increased access to Lake Washington through the lifelong sport of rowing.
Rowing offers a healthy, community-based activity for youth and adults alike.
The facility is funded by the City of Kenmore, King County, the Northshore School District, and the Kenmore Community.
This project has been supported operationally by the George Pocock Rowing Foundation.
OPENING
The Boathouse opened in August, 2021. Within days, youth summer rowing camps and adult teams were using the facility. By the end of the month, the Inglemoor Viking and Bothell Cougar rowing teams were practicing daily at the boathouse.
In 2022, North Creek High School's rowing team will start training at the Boathouse.
FACILITY
The modern boathouse was designed by J3 Architects and built by GenCap Construction.
The ADA accessible boathouse features 2 boat bays and a mezzanine, totalling 2800 SF.
